High performance fibrous bentonite for wine making
Gel bentonite loses 2/3 of the volume of the extracted raw material during the production process due to the intensive cleaning operations. This results in a highly efficient, homogeneous montmorillonite that contains no inert sand particles and therefore has five times the derivation and adsorption effect of normal bentonites. This makes it possible to reduce the amount of bentonite used and, consequently, the impurities carried into the wine. The unique appearance of the product - long, thin, brittle bentonite fibres - ensures easy handling and perfect, lump-free swelling. As with granulated bentonites, it spares the user the inconvenience of dust. The properties of Gelbenton are particularly beneficial for wines requiring special handling, such as quality wines and sparkling base wines that are difficult to stabilise. Due to its reduced sediment content, it is even more important in the post-fermentation of blended finished wines.
Suggested use:
10-20 g/100 litres of drink should be used. Add the gel benzine to 20 times the volume of water while stirring and allow to swell and settle for 1 hour. Pour off the excess water over the resulting pulp and then liquefy with the drink. It can then be mixed with the full volume of the drink. The fermentation process takes 1-2 days.
