The leaves of the young plant have a reddish-purple colouring of the back and central leaf area. It prefers a sunny or partly shady position and a humus-rich, well-drained acid soil. It requires a plentiful supply of water.
Like Musa basjoo, it is frost-tolerant. The banana also bears fruit, which is 12-15 cm in size and has a sweet flesh with a sweet flavour, but also a few hard seeds.
For its management, the general procedures for bananas are used.
Minimum temperature : - 10 °C.
It must be covered in winter. The germination period of the seed is about 1 to 3 months at about 25°C.
