As its trunk stores water, it should only be watered when the soil is only ripe. Once a week you can feed it with a nutrient solution for ornamental plants containing N,P,K. It needs a well permeable soil, which in our country means cactus soil. It is an ideal plant for homes with dry air. It can also be kept outdoors in summer. In winter it hardly needs watering. In bright and cool conservatories and staircases it is easy to overwinter. Colour variations, not always shown by vegetative propagation. Flowering can be expected after 6 months in April-October, under optimum conditions!
