What do I need to know about breeding in a nursery tray?
Tray propagation has been expanding rapidly recently because it is practical and easy to use. It consists of placing the plants in a cylindrical or rectangular depression of varying diameters (18-60mm) pressed into a plastic tray of about 0.18-0.25m2. The recesses are usually not closely spaced.
The trays are filled with a medium of the best structure and nutrient composition (peat, rockwool, plastic granules, soil mix, etc.), in which the plants are sown or planted. The trays can be easily transferred and transported afterwards. The tray provides an ideal medium for the plants transplanted from the cheese trays with the ideal spacing.
Once the roots of the plants have completely covered the cubes, they can be transplanted into a larger tray or, under the right conditions, planted out immediately.
