The outer and inner scales are an attractive carmine red, an excellent salad onion. Spherical. Recommended for fresh consumption, stores well.
Planting:
Late March to early April, "poke" into rows 25-30 cm apart, 8-10 cm apart and 3 cm deep.
Harvesting:
Green onions can be picked continuously from early May, cooking onions are suitable in June-July when more developed.
Green stems can be picked for winter storage after the green stems have dried. Store in a cool, dry place.
